SPRING IS HERE!
Posted By scool on May 17, 2018
Spring is in the air! That also means that grass, plants and weeds are growing faster. Please take some time to check if your landscape needs grass seed, weeds removed and mulch refreshed.
Weeds also like the little rain we had and the sun we’re receiving now. Please check your planters and grass area and keep your landscape free of weeds or to a minimum.
A great way to keep weeds away or to a bare minimum is to maintain at least a 2” layer of mulch. To be effective, mulch needs to be at least 2” deep. A thin sprinkling to cover bare soil may help the planters look nice, but it isn’t deep enough to deter weeds. Not only is mulch a great weed deterrent, it can help the soil retain moisture better, add nutrients to the soil and helps the community landscapes look impressive.
Are you tired of trying to get grass to grow and fill the bare spots in your lawn? Although water helps grass grow, grasses don’t necessarily fill bare spots quickly or well. If you are wanting your grass to fill your bare spots try adding grass seed and a thin layer of soil. Hand water the seeds in the bare spot every day for the first week and at least every other day for the second week. As the new grass matures, you can return to your regular watering schedule.
